Time to get serious about retiring. It’s taken a long time to get there, partly because I have been lucky enough to have a job I love, but an iffy knee made me realise that I need to start the next stage of my life while I have choices as to what I do with it. So many people make grandiose plans – usually along the lines of ‘I’m going to travel’ or ‘I’m going to write a book’ – I wonder whether that actually limits them. I’ve not got any plans but I have started a list of things that I WON’T do when I retire. It’s fairly short so far but includes ‘I won’t travel’ and ‘I won’t work in a charity shop’. <\/p>\n
